Give and Take (¥1) is a soft hack that uses metal surfaces such as the omnipresent vending machines of Tokyo as an infrastructure to trade and redistribute the practically worthless ¥1 coins, inviting the user to rethink notions of value. The coin holder symbolises a combination of the symbol of reincarnation and the cycle of life. It communicates an endless cycle of the Buddhist notion of appreciating the little things in life. If one feels like giving, one can refill an empty triskele (yellow coin holder). If one feels like one needs it, one can take as many ¥1 coins as one desires. It's a continuous, anonymous low currency trading system which can be found all over the city of Tokyo (once implemented).
